For generations, the sound of a train whistle signaled opportunity, adventure, and connection. Beginning in 1879, the Central Railroad of New Jersey served as a vital link between our bayshore community and destinations such as Newark and New York City. Each day, commuters, shoppers, and travelers boarded trains that carried them beyond Keyport while keeping the town connected to a rapidly growing region.

Although passenger service ended in 1966 and the station was lost to fire just two years later, its legacy lives on in the memories of those who rode the rails and the stories that helped shape our town.
