A Historic Eagle Returns to Keyport

Sometimes history finds its way home.

The Keyport Historical Society recently received an extraordinary donation: a historic terracotta eagle that once graced a prominent residence on Main Street. For many years the sculpture remained outside of Keyport after the family relocated, but it has now been returned to the community where its story began.

Although the eagle arrived in several pieces, plans are underway to stabilize and restore the sculpture so that it can eventually be displayed at the museum. The restoration will preserve not only the artifact itself, but also the story of the home, family, and community that surrounded it.

As work progresses, we look forward to sharing updates and inviting the public to follow the eagle's journey back to its place in Keyport's history.
