Keyport Self-Guided Historical Parks Tour
Stop 7 of 12
Cedar Street Park
Now
An active recreational area featuring a large baseball field, basketball court, tennis and pickleball courts, and a playground for younger children, this park complements the waterfront setting that has long shaped Keyport’s economy and culture.
Along the shoreline, the natural bluff and native vegetation have been preserved, while the planting of dune grass helps protect and sustain this long-standing habitat for marine and wildlife.
Then
Historical accounts suggest this portion of the shoreline was largely open land with nearby residential development. Unlike neighboring sites tied directly to maritime industry, this area appears to have remained undeveloped, transitioning naturally into public recreational use.
Standing here today, this space continues its long-standing role as a place for everyday life—where open land evolved naturally into a hub for recreation and community.
